Health minister inaugurates Chest Pain and Stroke Unit at JPMC

KARACHI: The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), in collaboration with the Government of Sindh, today inaugurated its 29th Chest Pain and Stroke Unit at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) in Karachi. The event was attended by management representatives from NICVD, JPMC, and other officials.

Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho inaugurated the unit along with NICVD's Executive Director Professor Tahir Saghir, Executive Director of NICVD Professor Javaid Akbar Sial, and Executive Director of JPMC Professor Shahid Rasool.

Speaking on the occasion, the health minister said that he establishment of the Chest Pain Unit is another gift for the people of Karachi, which will be linked to NICVD. This unit will provide immediate medical assistance to patients with heart attacks and strokes before being transferred to NICVD, where advanced facilities are available.

She said that the Sindh government is committed to providing modern and standardized treatment for heart diseases near patients' homes. The spread of NICVD's network of Satellite Centers and Chest Pain Units across the entire province of Sindh is evidence of this commitment, she added.
