A security plan has been formulated across Karachi from Feb 02 to 08, 2026, under which more than 7,700 police personnel have been deployed to protect vaccination teams during a crucial week-long anti-polio campaign.
These extensive security measures were announced in a press release issued from the office of Additional Inspector General Karachi Azad Khan on Monday, with the campaign scheduled to run from February 2 to 8, 2026.
To ensure the safety of health workers, a comprehensive security plan has been devised, under which a total of 7,703 police personnel, including female constables, have been deployed across the city.
The deployment is divided into the city’s three main zones, with the West Zone receiving the largest contingent of 2,908 officers. For the East Zone, 2,724 personnel have been allocated, while 2,071 officers will handle security in the South Zone.
According to a Karachi police spokesperson, the city’s police chief has issued strict directives to all zonal officers to directly oversee the security arrangements to ensure the campaign proceeds without any untoward incidents.
