Home dept fails to establish COVID-19 Ward in Police Hospital

KARACHI:Home Department Sindh and Sindh Police Hospital Karachi administration have failed to establish state-of-the -art Coronavirus Ward for police officers and officials.

The suspected COVID-19 police officers and officials are being referred to Sindh Government Services Hospital, Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre(JPMC) and other health facilities’ testing and admissions.

However, the Police Hospital Karachi management has miserably failed to set up Corona high-Dependency Unit (HDU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the hospital since outbreak of COVID-19 in Sindh province.

In Sindh, as many as 3,703 police officials and personnel have been tested positive for Coronaviurs in Sindh out of which 20 embraced martyrdom so far. Around 3,481 officailas and personnel have been recovered from infectious diseases.

Medical Superintendent, Sindh Police Hospital, Karachi, Dr Muzzafar Ali Jakhrani, while talking to PPI, informed that efforts were underway to establish COVID-19 facility in Police Hospital and equipment had been acquired to establish the ward. He hoped that Corona Ward would be made operational in a month.
