Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan President Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair has strongly condemned the international community, terming the “criminal silence” of the United Nations and human rights organizations on the human catastrophe in Sudan as deplorable.
In a statement on Wednesday, he accused global bodies of double standards, saying that while they often “make a noise over minor incidents in some countries,” they become “silent spectators” to the “shedding of innocent blood in Muslim countries.”
Dr. Zubair described the situation in Sudan as a grave human tragedy, citing massacres, the dishonoring of women, and the deaths of innocent children. He called the crisis a “moment of reflection for the global conscience,” where millions are displaced, hungry, and suffering from diseases.
He attributed the lack of international intervention to the “political and economic interests” of world powers, which he claimed have chosen to remain passive observers of the escalating unrest.
The religious leader demanded immediate and decisive action, calling on the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and Islamic countries to formulate a joint strategy. He urged these bodies to press for a ceasefire and take practical steps for the rehabilitation of the victims.
Furthermore, Dr. Zubair stressed the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah to help oppressed populations. He argued that as long as Muslims are not united “like one body,” they will continue to fall prey to the oppression of world powers.
He concluded with a prayer for the help of the oppressed Muslims of Sudan and around the world, and for Muslim rulers to be granted the ability to feel the pain of their people and fulfill their duties.
