Hydel and tourism potential being utilized for development of Gilgit Baltistan: Minister Power Mushtaq Hussain 

Islamabad, February 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Gilgit Baltistan government is striving hard for the development and progress of the area by utilizing GB’s hydel and tourism potential. This was stated by Gilgit Baltistan Minister for Water and Power Mushtaq Hussain while speaking in Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel today along with Minister for Local Government Haji Abdul Hameed.

He said power projects are being completed in Gilgit Baltistan at a cost of millions of rupees to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to the people of the area. Mushtaq Hussain said at present 22 hydel power houses are working in the area while 25 generators have been taken on rent, and there is no load shedding in peak hours in major cities of Gilgit Baltistan.

Talking about development of tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan, he said maximum facilities are being provided to tourists, including availability of uninterrupted electricity and clean drinking water. Highlighting Prime Minister Imran Khan’s special interest for the development of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mushtaq Hussain said the Federal Government has approved 3,913 posts for Gilgit Baltistan.

Participating in the programme, Minister for Local Government Haji Abdul Hameed said Gilgit Baltistan is blessed with beautiful picnic spots including meadows, rivers, vallies and high mountains. He said that the government is providing funds to bring improvement in all sectors including tourism as there is a huge capability of revenue generating in this field.
