KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, said on Thursday that as per the guidelines issued to all DIGs on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the contingency plan comprising extraordinary security measures should be ensured at all levels in respective districts.
He said that coordination with Pakistan Rangers Sindh and other law enforcement agencies should be made possible to ensure protection to the lives and properties of people at the places of central congregations, including Majalis and mourning processions under the implementation of overall security measures plan.
The IGP Sindh said that random snap checking should be made mandatory at in the premises of all the police stations of Sindh on daily basis, especially in Karachi, and in this regard, sharing of information regarding possible crimes, should be ensured, besides establishing strong coordination at police station to police station level so that criminal elements could be captured red-handed in view of immediate actions.
He said that besides increasing intelligence in the areas, all security measures should be tightened at the central mosques, imambargahs, shrines, and other religious places of the minority communities while picketing, mobile and motorcycle patrolling around those areas must also be ensured. He said that focus would also be paid on security at central shopping centers, markets, industrial places and commerce zones.
