India to deploy 100 additional companies of troops in IOK

New Delhi, February 23, 2019 (PPI-OT):The government of India has ordered the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to urgently deploy 100 companies in occupied Kashmir. The Indian ministry of Home Affairs a letter said, “We have to urgently deploy additional CAPFs in Jammu and Kashmir. It is requested to provide 100 coys of CAPFs (CRPF-45, BSF-35, SSB-10 and ITBP-10) to Govt. of J and K with immediate effect and till further orders. IG (Ops), CRPF is requested to ensure immediate movement of Forces in coordination with IG (Ops) of all Forces.”

However, the Indian government refrained from giving specific reasons for the deployment. The letter comes in the backdrop of a massive crackdown on Hurriyat leaders and members of Jamaat-e-Islami in occupied Kashmir.

On Friday night, Indian forces’ personnel arrested dozens of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and also JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik. Those detained include JI Ameer, Dr Abdul Hamid Fayaz, Advocate Zahid Ali, Ghulam Qadir Lone, Abdur Rauf, Mudassir Ahmed, Abdul Salam, Bakhtawar Ahmed, Muhammad Hayat, Bilal Ahmed, Ghulam Muhammad Dar and others. The Jamaat cadres were picked up from various places including Islamabad, Pahalgham, Dialgam and Tral – all in south Kashmir.
