A joint police operation has led to the apprehension of two alleged members of an inter-provincial organised criminal outfit implicated in numerous house burglaries and thefts, authorities confirmed. A significant cache of stolen assets, including gold jewellery and ammunition, was recovered from their possession.

According to a report by Islamabad Capital Police today, a combined team from the Shams Colony and Phulgran police stations conducted the operation that resulted in the detention of the two wanted individuals, identified as Sammar Abbas and Saleem.

The seized items include gold jewellery, an LED screen, mobile phones, cash, high-value watches, and armaments. Formal cases have been registered against the detained men.

According to police, the accused admitted during preliminary questioning to their involvement in multiple criminal acts within the jurisdictions of Shams Colony, Phulgran, and adjacent localities. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The arrests are part of a wider law enforcement initiative against individuals involved in robberies, street crimes, and other serious offences across the federal capital. This crackdown was launched following specific directives from the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, with police officials citing a decline in major crime incidents as a result.

The DIG has instructed all officers to sustain their operations against criminals dispossessing citizens of their property. A public appeal was also made, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement and promptly report any suspicious activity or objects to their nearest police station or the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline.
