ITU becomes first Pakistani University for conducting walkthrough virtual tour on Monday

Lahore, June 24, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Information Technology University (ITU) the Punjab will become the first Pakistani University by conducting live virtual walkthrough tour of the University by its founding Vice Chancellor Dr. Umar Saif along with all Deans and Heads of the Departments on June 25, 2018, Monday at 4 p.m, showcasing its various sections including state of the art Electrical Engineering Labs. The virtual walkthrough tour is being arranged to facilitate the prospective candidates applying for admission in ITU’s Fall 18’ opened for applying online at www.itu.edu.pk with deadline of June 29, 2018 BS, MS, PhD in subjects, Economics with Data Science, Management and Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Development Studies: Development, Technology and Policy.

ITU also offers generous admission and need based scholarships. ITU is one of the first Universities in the World to enter into a formal partnership with EdX (MIT and Harvard University online course platform) to introduce online learning of two Masters programs in Development Studies and Data Sciences. ITU is driven by a culture of research and entrepreneurship, was to advance innovation and research in the areas of science, technology and engineering. Presenting the University report he said that ITU faculty members have won Rs. 700 million in competitive research grants, published 465 papers in top journals and conferences and made technology that solved local problems in Pakistan.

World renowned Pakistani Computer Scientist, Dr. Umar Saif has been appointed as the UNESCO Chair for using Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICTD). The establishment of the UNESCO Chair is an acknowledgement of Dr. Umar Saif’s work in the field of using IT for Development. This is the first international UNESCO Chair in the field of ICTD and will help Pakistan become a center of excellence in using Information Technology for development, especially use of technology to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
