Judicial inquiry should be conducted into killing by police in Khairpur: Sardar Changiz Sasoli

Sardar Changiz Khan Sasoli, the head of the Sasoli tribe, has strongly condemned the alleged extrajudicial killing of a tribal person by the police, and has referred to the footage that went viral on social media which allegedly shows the person being taken into custody alive, after which his death was reported in a police “encounter”.

Sardar Changiz Khan Sasoli, the head of the Sasoli tribe, has identified the deceased as Noor Muhammad Sasoli. He stated that videos circulating online clearly show that Noor Muhammad Sasoli and another person, Irshad Mirani, are being arrested at the Babarloi Bypass in Khairpur, a city in Sindh.

Later, it was claimed that both individuals were killed during an alleged police encounter within the jurisdiction of the Economic Zone police station.

The tribal chief questioned the police’s stance, highlighting the clear contradiction in the official narrative. Sardar Sasoli asked, “If the individuals were already arrested, then how did an encounter happen?”, he described the incident as extremely regrettable.

He termed the situation “a gross injustice and a mockery of the law”.

Consequently, Sardar Sasoli has demanded the immediate formation of a judicial inquiry team for a transparent and impartial investigation into the matter.

He stressed that all individuals found involved in the alleged killing must be severely punished according to the law.
