The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) Balochistan on Monday announced plan to block major highways across the province on January 8 in protest against alleged rigging in the re-poll for PB-45 Quetta.
This was announced by JUI-F Balochistan Ameer, Senator Moulana Abdul Wasey while speaking at a press conference at his residence in Quetta. The party leaders Kamran Murtaza, Agha Mehmood Shah, Moulvi Kamaluddin, Dilawar Kakar, Molvi Sarwar Musakhail, and Haji Nawaz Kakar were also present on the occasion.
Wasey alleged that the party candidate had secured a majority in the re-polling but was declared defeated due to rigging. He said that the party also intended to hold demonstrations in Baloch and Pushtun regions against the closure of the Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran borders.
Wasey claimed that Form-45 showed JUI-F’s candidate with over 6,000 votes, while Ali Madad Jatak of another party was declared the winner with only 680 votes, citing Form-47. He condemned the provincial government for the shutdown of the cellular network in Quetta, calling it an example of administrative inefficiency.
The JUI-F leader further criticized the provincial government for misleading farmers under the guise of solarisation and bringing health and education sectors to the brink of collapse. The party announced plans to hold protests in the Pushtun belt on January 20 against the Pak-Afghan border closure and from February 9 to 17 in the Baloch belt to protest the Pak-Iran border closure.
