In a significant development in the local crackdown against the sale of illegal gutka and mawa in Landhi, authorities have apprehended a suspect red-handed with two large sacks filled with the harmful substance known as chora mawa.
The operation was conducted by Landhi police on Saturday.
The detained individual has been identified as Manzoor alias Bhola, son of Maqsood Ahmed. During the police action, both sacks of the illegal mawa were recovered directly from him.
Following the arrest, a First Information Report (FIR No. 17/26) has been registered against the accused under Section 8(1) of the Gutka Mawa Act 2015.
Authorities are currently investigating any prior criminal record associated with the suspect.
According to a statement from Station House Officer Salahuddin Qazi of Landhi Police Station, Manzoor is being handed over to the in-charge of the Central Investigation Cell (CIC) Korangi for further investigation.
