KCR’s 1st phase will be completely revived soon: PD

KARACHI:Project Director, Karachi Circular Railway (KC), Ameer Mohammad Daudpota, said Saturday that KCR revival was a certain project and the phase-1 of the historic KCR project would be completely revived very soon.

Talking to media persons at his office, he said that the KCR revival project had been envisaged as a modern urban commuter service that would ultimately carry 700,000 passengers per day. “Karachi city suffers from massive transportation issues, however, this service would alleviate the woes of Karachiites to a larger extent,” remarked the PD.

While responding to a question regarding level crossings and track at Green Line area, he said that the Sindh government had been given the target for complete elimination of level crossings along with their replacement by flyovers and overhead bridges. “The KCR track will be of elevated structure along the green line area,” apprised Daudpota. He further said that KCR coaches would carry all the basic facilities and their fare would be very economical.
