Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad today assured the full cooperation of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to the city’s journalistic community, urging the newly elected leadership of the Karachi Press Club (KPC) to prioritise resolving issues faced by journalists.
The deputy mayor made the commitment during a visit to the KPC, where he extended his congratulations to the newly elected office-bearers following their recent electoral success. During the meeting, Murad presented traditional Sindhi ajraks to the new leadership as a gesture of goodwill.
Recipients of the traditional gift and felicitations included the incoming President Fazil Jameeli, Vice President Irshad Khokhar, Secretary Muhammad Aslam Khan, Joint Secretary Farooq Samee, and Treasurer Imran Ayub.
Murad also conveyed his best wishes to the seven new members of the KPC’s Governing Body: Qari Abdul Jabbar, Akhtar Soomro, Shaima Siddiqui, Faryal Arif, Javed Saba, Farid Alam, and Javed Mehr.
Speaking at the event, the deputy mayor stated that the victory of the Democrats Panel in the club’s elections was a clear reflection of the trust placed in them by the press corps. He acknowledged the KPC as a significant institution in the city’s history, highlighting its consistent and prominent role in championing democratic values and press freedom.
He expressed his expectation that the new administration would work proactively to serve the journalist fraternity and continue to be an effective voice for the public.
