KP cabinet decided to include liver transplant in Sehat Card

PESHAWAR:Provincial cabinet decided to include Liver Transplant in Sehat Card Plus Scheme and hinted at the inclusion of Bone Marrow Transplant facility in the scheme in the next phase.

The cabinet approved regularization of 2500 ex-Servicemen/ till attaining the age of superannuation. These ex-servicemen presently serving the provincial police on contract basis and rendered valuable services was against terrorism.

Moreover, the cabinet also approved to provide 225 Kanal of land for the establishment of the state of the Art University of Azakhel Nowshera Inclusive of sports ground.

The cabinet met here on Tuesday with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan in the chair. Cabinet members, Chief Secretary, IG Police, Additional Chief Secretary and administrative secretaries attended the meeting.

Briefing the media men, about the decision of the cabinet meeting, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information and Higher Education Kamran Bangash said that provincial cabinet today disposed of 40 important agenda items. He informed that Chief Minister welcomed the newly inducted cabinet members and new IG KP Police.

The Chief Minister directed all the departments to ensure framing of rules under the new Acts of their respective departments within a week time, otherwise strict action will be initiated against those who failed to comply with the framing of rules within the given timeframe.

Kamran Bangash added that Chief Minister had given clear directives to identify those government buildings of all the departments which are under-utilized within a week time so that their proper utilization for the public welfare could be ensured.

The cabinet also approved Panagah Rules 2020. This will ensure healthcare facilities, security, food, transportation etc. for the shelter less people staying in Panagah. The cabinet approved Local Government Private Housing Schemes (Management and Regulation) Rules 2021, to provide a comprehensive legal framework for the management, Regularization of private Housing Schemes and thus to ensure basic civic amenities and municipal service to the residents as well as to ensure planned construction and efficient land utilization.

Kamran Bangash added that cabinet today discussed in detail the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Land Use and Building Control Authority Act 2021 and constituted a cabinet committee comprising of Minister Local Government, Minister Food, Minister Labour, Minister Agriculture and Advocate General to further fine-tune the proposed Act and present the same to the next meeting of cabinet for approval.

The cabinet also approved certain amendments in Local Government Act 2013 with regard to the upcoming Local Bodies Election and reiterated its commitment that provincial government is ready for the election.

Provincial cabinet approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witness Protection Act 2021 to provide conducive atmosphere for the witness to record their statements without any fear. This will ensure speedy justice and strengthen Criminal Justice System. This will particularly enhance the conviction rate of the cases related to terrorism.

The cabinet also approved to handover the administrative control of Food Safety and Halal Food Authority from Health department to Food department. With regard to the provision of Rs. 500 million grant to pay the pension of professors and employees of Agriculture University Peshawar, the cabinet directed Higher Education department and Finance department to find out a solution on permanent basis in consultation with Higher Education Commission. Chief Minister directed that Higher Education department should also resolve similar issue of other Universities of the public sector.

Kamran Bangash added that provincial cabinet approved Rs. 800 million as supplementary grant to Higher Education department for Pak-Austria Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, Haripur. The cabinet discussed in detail the proposed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Artist Welfare Endowment Fund Act 2021 in order to extend financial support to deserving artists of the province and constituted a committee headed by Provincial Minister for Culture, Shaukat Yousafzai to further improve the Act and presented the in the same in the next meeting of the cabinet. Moreover, the cabinet approved special conveyance allowance, and EMA allowance for the Data Collection and Monitoring Assistants of Education Monitoring Authority with the condition that these allowances would be given purely on the basis of performance.

The cabinet also approved pension rules 2020. This is to clarify that Pension Reforms will in no way affect the existing pensioners. The aim of pension rules is to strengthen the system of pension and evolve a mechanism to meet the pension expenditure in future. The cabinet also approved a supplementary grant of Rs. 213.344 millions for the standardization of all THQs and DHQs.

The cabinet was informed that in a bid to strengthen healthcare service delivery, 300 additional doctors have recently been posted in various hospitals of the merged districts. The cabinet also approved a grant of Rs. 1234.242 million for the Procurement of Land for Bacha Khan Medical College. To ensure provision of clean drinking water in Rehman Abad, Shakardar in Southern district, the cabinet approved the transfer of 3 acres forest land to Public Health Engineering department.

The cabinet also approved to notify 15 number of Rivers in various districts of the province under the River Protection Ordinance 2020 with an aim to ensure better Management of water resources and to avoid encroachment along river Banks. Chief Minister also directed to ensure plantation on these river banks.

The cabinet approved Rs. 2 billion supplementary grant for the ongoing projects of Road Infrastructure, water supply, health, tourism and sports etc. The cabinet approved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Employees Social Security Act 2021, extension of Employees Social Security Ordinance 1965 to district Malakand, Swat, Buner and merged districts. Similarly, the cabinet approved industrial Relation Rules 2021 and appointment of Mr. Justice Nasir Mehfooz as member Labour Appellate Tribunal.

The cabinet principally approved appointment of Ali Gul Faraz as MD Bank of Khyber subject to fulfillment of all codal formalities. The cabinet approved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission Employees Service Rules 2020. The cabinet approved appointment of Chief Executive Officer for WSSC Bannu and Swat and appointment of nine Private members of Board of Directors of WSSC Peshawar.
