The Muttahida Awami Movement has issued a stern warning to the provincial government, stating that a lack of emergency medical services in Sangla Hill is causing preventable deaths of patients trapped in ambulances at a frequently closed railway crossing.
In a formal statement on Monday, the Muttahida Awami Movement expressed deep concern over the recurring loss of life and demanded the immediate establishment of a modern trauma center to meet the critical healthcare needs of the region’s growing population.
The movement pointed out that in severe medical emergencies, including traffic accidents, heart attacks, and shooting incidents, patients are forced into perilous transfers to distant hospitals in Faisalabad, Lahore, and other major cities. They contend that this delay often proves fatal.
A key point of contention is the local railway crossing, whose frequent and prolonged closures have become, in the movement’s words, a “constant torment.” Ambulances are reportedly stranded for hours, leading to tragic outcomes which the group terms not as accidents but as governmental failure.
The Muttahida Awami Movement has held the provincial administration directly responsible for “governmental incompetence and negligence.” It has urged the Chief Minister of Punjab and the Department of Health to abandon their policy of ignoring the needs of Sangla Hill and take immediate practical steps.
Describing its demand as a “fundamental right” rather than a plea for charity, the movement has issued an ultimatum. It has demanded that the government immediately establish a modern, well-equipped trauma center at Sangla Hill Civil Hospital, warning that failure to do so will compel them to take to the streets in public protest.
The organization reiterated its commitment to continue its campaign and pledged to constantly raise its voice until the long-standing demand for this life-saving facility is met, stating that any further delay is unacceptable.
