Industrialists who have been allocated plots in the new Larkana Special Economic Zone face a strict six-month deadline to begin construction or risk having their allotments cancelled, the provincial government has warned.
According to official information today, the directive was issued by Sindh”s Minister for Industries and Commerce, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, during a meeting at the SITE Limited office in Karachi where allotment letters were officially distributed to the new plot holders.
Mr Dharejo emphasised that the industrial plots must be used exclusively for their designated purpose and are not to be utilised for any other activity under any circumstances. He clarified that the allotment orders of any investors found violating the rules would be rescinded.
The provincial minister stated that the operationalisation of the Larkana Special Economic Zone is anticipated to generate substantial employment opportunities for residents in Larkana and its neighbouring cities, providing a significant boost to the regional economy.
He further remarked that the Government of Sindh, in line with the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is pursuing serious measures for industrial development. Attractive incentives are reportedly being offered to encourage maximum industrial investment in the zone.
The meeting was also attended by the Managing Director of SITE, Ahmed Fawad Shah, and other concerned officials.
