LARKANA: The Director, Primary School Education, Larkana Region, Gul Sher Soomro, has so far removed from service 262 male and female teachers and awarded 39 employees minor penalty while six were compulsorily retired on being proved constantly absent from their government duties and drawing salaries while sitting at home.

While to talking to PPI, the director said that 658 teachers and non-teaching staff were issued show cause notices in the region through their relevant District Education Officers (DEOs) which included 570 male and female teachers and 88 non-teaching staff.

He said action was still to be taken against 351 employees. He said that 113 teachers belong to Jacobabad district, 285 to Kambar-Shahdadkot, 17 to Kashmore, 83 to Larkana and 72 belong to Shikarpur district. Likewise, he added, the list included 15 non-teaching staff of Jacobabad, 42 of Kambar-Shahdadkot, three of Kashmore-Kandhkot, 23 of Larkana and five of Shikarpur district.

He said that all codal formalities had been completed in this regard as admissible under the prevailing rules. To a question whether recoveries will be made from the employees, he said yes, adding the process was underway as some recovery had been made.

The director said that those teachers remained absent since 2018 onward and were properly monitored by Education Department monitoring teams. He said that the fired teachers also included females who too were getting salaries unlawfully while sitting at their homes. He warned the teachers and non-teaching staff to be regular and punctual on their duties or else they would also face the similar action as no leniency would be tolerated.
