Major Haul in Federal Capital as Police Apprehend 21 in Anti-Crime Sweep

Authorities in the federal capital on Friday claimed to have apprehended 21 individuals, including seven proclaimed offenders, and seized a significant quantity of narcotics, alcohol, and illegal firearms during a series of city-wide operations aimed at curbing criminal activity.

The extensive crackdowns and search operations, conducted on the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, are part of an ongoing effort to enhance the security of life and property for residents.

From the 14 accused taken into custody, law enforcement recovered a substantial cache of illicit substances. This included 1,200 grams of hashish, 3,600 grams of heroin, and 1,852 grams of ice.

In addition to the narcotics, officers also confiscated 50 bottles of liquor and five pistols of varying calibres along with corresponding ammunition.

The broader security initiative involved comprehensive search and combing operations. During these, officials thoroughly checked 96 individuals, 92 houses, two shops, 60 motorcycles, and 19 vehicles.

Following these inspections, seven individuals and six motorcycles considered suspicious were moved to police stations for further verification.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Operations, Qazi Ali Raza, stated that the force is fully committed to ensuring the protection of citizens in the capital.

The SSP emphasised that elements seeking to disrupt public peace and order would not be tolerated, reiterating that safeguarding residents’ lives and property remains the foremost priority for the police service.

He encouraged the public to contribute to urban safety by promptly reporting any suspicious activity to the relevant police station or the emergency helpline “Pucar-15”, stressing that mutual cooperation is key to making the city crime-free.
