Authorities in the federal capital informed today that the police have taken 24 individuals into custody following a series of operations targeting criminal activities, which also resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics and multiple firearms.
According to a statement from the Islamabad Capital Police, teams from ten different police stations, including Aabpara, Ramna, Shahzad Town, and Bani Gala, apprehended 18 suspects allegedly involved in various offences.
During the arrests, law enforcement officials recovered a significant cache of illicit substances, including 2,779 grams of heroin, 986 grams of crystal methamphetamine, known as ice, and 530 grams of hashish. Additionally, 12 pistols along with ammunition were confiscated from the suspects” possession.
In a separate but related drive, a special campaign targeting wanted individuals resulted in the arrest of six proclaimed offenders and absconders by various police units.
The operations are part of an ongoing city-wide initiative against criminal elements, conducted under directives from the Inspector General of Police for Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, with the stated aim of maintaining peace and security.
Formal cases have been registered against all arrested individuals, and further investigations are underway. Police officials reiterated their objective to safeguard the lives and property of residents and ensure public order.
Citizens have also been urged to report any suspicious activities to their local police station or via the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline to assist in crime prevention efforts.
