Malir land scam: NAB arrests former secretary

KARACHI:  National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday arrested former secretary of land utilization department Sindh in a case pertaining to the Malir land scam.

 

According to NAB spokesperson, former secretary of land utilization department Aftab Memon has been arrested in a reference pertaining to the Malir land scam. The NAB said that Memon was produced before the court which sent him to Central Prison Karachi for judicial remand.

 

The NAB spokesperson said that accused restored the rejected record of 20 acres of land in Malir for the profit of private men. Apart from this, the accused illegally allotted 90 acres of land to State Bank’s cooperative housing society despite a ban from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The accused have caused Rs500 million loss to the national exchequer, the NAB officials said.
