Karachi, February 26, 2018 (PPI-OT): Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar said cleaning of Pitcher Nullah in Lyari area. So far 6000RFT portion of this drain has been cleaned whereas construction for protective walls of this drain is under way. Mayor regretted said many drains in the city have already been encroached upon by a mafia that has erected shops and houses on these drains and sold them to people.
He said during heavy rains many localities would witness flash urban flooding if all encroachments on 13 major drains of Karachi are not removed. He sought the help of Sindh Government in this regard. He said the roof of the Pitcher Nullah near Lea Market is being reconstructed to protect this drain from garbage and other waste and also to make it safer for traffic.
