Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon today presided over an important meeting aimed at the rapid provision of land for bus depots, which is a significant step for Karachi’s modern transport projects.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zaman and Director General Karachi Development Authority Asif Jan Siddiqui, along with Deputy Commissioners of Malir, Korangi, Karachi Central, and Karachi West, who emphasized the need for identifying suitable land.
Officials presented comprehensive briefings on the land requirements for public transport projects, stressing the importance of timely land allotment for the inclusion of 50 double-decker buses and 500 electric vehicles into the transport system.
Minister Memon highlighted the government’s commitment to providing safe, modern, and environmentally friendly public transport options. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to expedite the process of identifying vacant government land within their jurisdiction to facilitate the establishment of bus depots.
The Minister emphasized that the timely preparation of operational depots and infrastructure is crucial, as they are essential for the success of transport projects. He urged all relevant institutions to engage in collaborative efforts to ensure arrangements are completed swiftly and effectively.
