Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, met today with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Natalie Baker, during which the improvement of Pakistan-U.S. relations, employment, and workforce collaboration were discussed.
The focus of the meeting was to enhance cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing skill development and job creation opportunities for Pakistani workers. This dialogue is considered a step towards strengthening the historical relations between the United States and Pakistan.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain highlighted the extensive measures taken by Pakistan to curb illegal immigration and underscored the importance of overseas Pakistanis in stabilizing the nation’s economy. Last year, remittances from overseas Pakistanis surpassed an impressive $38 billion, demonstrating their significant role in economic sustainability.
The minister praised the global export of Pakistan’s workforce in various sectors such as construction, IT, healthcare, and tourism. He mentioned the potential for further cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in these areas.
Natalie Baker commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their services to global peace and praised the professional standards of the Pakistani workforce. She expressed a keen interest in attracting Pakistani experts, particularly in sectors like tourism, hospitality, and healthcare, to the United States.
Baker reiterated the U.S.’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Pakistan in education and human resource development. Both parties agreed to institutionalize efforts to enhance training programs, skill development, and workforce exchanges.
This meeting marks a progressive step in strengthening mutual relations, with both countries striving to leverage growth and development opportunities in the workforce sector.
