The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has intensified its legal actions against Malik Riaz Ahmed, the owner of Bahria Town, amid ongoing investigations into fraud and deception cases involving his real estate ventures.
NAB has filed multiple references in the Accountability Courts of Islamabad and Karachi, which have subsequently summoned the accused.
The charges against Malik Riaz and his associates include illegal land occupation in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and New Murree, as well as establishing unauthorized housing societies. NAB has disclosed that it possesses irrefutable evidence of the accused defrauding individuals of billions of rupees.
In a significant development, numerous properties of Bahria Town, including commercial buildings in various cities, have been sealed. Bank accounts and vehicles linked to the entity have been frozen, with further actions proceeding swiftly.
Malik Riaz, currently residing in Dubai as a court absconder, has launched a luxury apartment project there. NAB has evidence pointing to money laundering activities involving funds transferred from Pakistan to Dubai for this project, with allegations of local aides facilitating these transactions.
The NAB has urged the public to exercise caution against enticing offers from Bahria Town and safeguard their savings. In collaboration with government agencies, efforts are underway to extradite Malik Riaz to Pakistan to face justice.
