(NATIONAL): Sindh-Centre body decides to remove encroachments

KARACHI:A meeting of the Coordination Committee between Sindh and the federal government was held in which Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Education Minister Saeed Ghani and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah were present. Chairman P and D also attended the meeting. Federal Ministers Asad Umar, Ali Zaidi, Aminul Haq participated on behalf of the federal government. Chairman NDMA on video link from Islamabad.

The meeting discussed the cleaning of drains in Karachi and decided to remove encroachments for cleaning drains. The Sindh Local Government Minister said that such encroachments where there was no housing would be removed from Monday.

It was decided in the meeting that alternative accommodation would be arranged in the place where people are living. The Sindh government has pointed out the slow pace of work on Jamshoro Sehwan Seshkan of Indus Inter Highway and the Sindh government has given Rs 7 billion to the federation for the construction of this section.

The meeting decided to expedite the work on Jamshoro, Sehwan section and the issue of lining of KB feeder was also discussed in the meeting. According to Local Government Minister Nasir Shah, lining of KB feeder could stop water savage which could save more water. It was decided in the meeting that the work of lining of KB feeder will be reviewed.
