Islamabad: The National Youth Council’s oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for January 28, marking a significant step in Pakistan’s youth empowerment initiatives. During the inaugural meeting under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, council members were briefed about their responsibilities and the council’s code of conduct.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, Susheel Ram from the Commonwealth Secretariat emphasized Pakistan’s founding role in the Commonwealth’s youth empowerment efforts. He highlighted the importance of the council members in leveraging their potential to effectively empower young people.
The Commonwealth, comprising 56 member states, sees this initiative as pivotal for youth development. UNFPA Representative Fizza Mazhar praised the council’s formation and lauded Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan for their dedication to youth empowerment.
Mazhar assured the council of cooperation in implementing youth development measures. The council, formed on merit, includes 100 members from Pakistan and 13 from overseas, and will serve as the Prime Minister’s Youth Advisory Board, playing a key role in shaping youth empowerment policies.
