With Eid-ul-Adha just 18 days away, the Northern Bypass Cattle Market turned into a lively and well-organized hub for sacrificial animals on Monday, with the total number of livestock exceeding 70,000.
Families with children flocked to the mandi late Sunday night, joined by political leaders and members of the business community, giving the venue a festive, carnival-like atmosphere that lasted until dawn.
Member of the Sindh Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary for Livestock, Fisheries and Katchi Abadis, Muhammad Asif Khan, praised the security and arrangements made by the Sindh government. “I have never seen such an organized cattle market before. Compared to last year, the addition of a food street is a welcome improvement,” he stated.
Raja Khaleeq uz Zaman Ansari, Senior Vice President of PML-N Sindh, also visited and remarked, “This is not just Asia’s, but the world’s largest cattle market for sacrificial animals.”
He expressed gratitude to Administrator Faisal Ali and Spokesperson Umm e Aiman, stating that credit for the success goes to the organizing team and the media cell.
Trader community leader Jameel Paracha shared his contentment with the arrangements, noting, ‘People are visiting with their families even in the late hours of the night, which reflects the secure and well-managed environment here.’
Administrator Faisal Ali expressed gratitude for the visit of the distinguished guests and confirmed that over 70,000 animals from across the country were currently housed in various blocks of the market.
The cattle traders have arrived from Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Naushero Feroze, and Karachi’s farmhouses.
