Karachi”‘ Deputy Mayor, Salman Abdullah Murad, today asserted that with targeted skill development, persons with disabilities can become productive members of society, revealing that the Pakistan Peoples Party”s Sindh government has made their welfare, education, and training a priority.
Speaking at a ceremony at a Sports Complex to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the deputy mayor remarked that the occasion highlights the vital importance of this community and underscores the societal need to encourage and support them.
Murad emphasized that individuals with disabilities possess immense capabilities and are already playing a significant role in the nation”s development and progress. He noted that their inherent talents simply require further refinement to be fully realized.
He also pointed to religious teachings, stating that they instruct society to fulfill its responsibilities in this regard.
The deputy mayor extended praise to the families and parents who support individuals with disabilities, calling their efforts to help them live active and better lives “truly commendable.”
He concluded by challenging the perception that special-needs individuals are a burden, reiterating that equipping them with skills is the key to unlocking their potential as valuable contributors to the community.
