SHIKARPUR: Shikarpur police on Friday claimed to have killed one dacoit and injured another in an encounter on Friday.
According to SSP Office Shikarpur, a gang of two armed men tried to loot passing vehicles on Khanpur-Shikarpur road near Lakra Hotel when police rushed there, resulting in the encounter.
In the exchange of fire, a dacoit identified as Ali Bux alias Alloo son of Mohib Jatoi was killed on the spot while his accomplice Saeen Bux son of Illahi Bux Jatoi received serious injuries.
The killed dacoit and injured were sent to Taluka Hospital Khanpur for medico-legal formalities and treatment.
The criminal record of killed and injured dacoits were being collected from police stations. SSP Shikarpur Dr Muhammad Imran Khan appreciated the police officials who took part in police encounter and awarded them appreciation certificates and cash rewards.
