Islamabad: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), in collaboration with Coca-Cola Pakistan, has initiated a tree plantation drive at Islamabad International Airport. This effort aims to enhance the airport's green cover with climate-resilient, indigenous trees and aligns with the Government of Pakistan's environmental initiatives.
According to The Coca-Cola press release, the initiative was inaugurated by Aftab Gilani, Chief Operating Officer at Islamabad International Airport. He was joined by Sami Wahid, Country Head of Coca-Cola Pakistan, and Faisal Hashmi, Senior Director at Coca-Cola Pakistan and Afghanistan, during a ceremonial planting session. Gilani emphasized the airport's role in representing Pakistan and described the project as a step towards sustainable airport operations that blend aviation with environmental responsibility.
Wahid expressed Coca-Cola's commitment to supporting PAA's vision, noting the importance of airports in shaping a country's first impression. Hashmi highlighted the collaboration as an example of effective public-private partnership in developing environmentally friendly infrastructure.
In 2024, Coca-Cola's foundation had supported the Recharge Pakistan Project, focusing on flood and water resource management within the Indus Basin. This current initiative continues Coca-Cola's engagement in environmental sustainability efforts in Pakistan.
