Pakistan and Canada are exploring a significant collaboration aimed at enhancing postgraduate medical education and specialist training for Pakistani physicians, following a high-level meeting in Ottawa on Wednesday.
High Commissioner for Pakistan, Muhammad Saleem, held discussions with Mr Craig Ceppetelli, the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), at the institution’s headquarters.
The dialogue centred on establishing formal linkages between the RCPSC and its Pakistani counterpart, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP), to foster mutual cooperation.
Key areas addressed included opportunities for capacity building within Pakistan”s healthcare sector, advancing professional training programmes, and strengthening medical accreditation and specialist certification processes.
The High Commissioner also used the occasion to extend information about the upcoming International Medical Education Conference, scheduled to take place in Karachi, Pakistan, in February 2026.
