Pakistan Commemorates International Charity Day With Renewed Focus On Flood Relief

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored Pakistan”s commitment to global unity on International Charity Day, emphasizing the significance of giving, philanthropy, and cooperation in social welfare.

In a statement released today, the Prime Minister noted Pakistan”s history of selfless aid, transcending religious, ideological, and ethnic boundaries. He described this compassionate spirit as integral to the nation”s social and cultural fabric.

Sharif lauded the contributions of national volunteers, highlighting their consistent and substantial support during crises, including natural catastrophes, conflicts, and other emergencies. He acknowledged the philanthropy of those providing services such as complimentary medical care, meals, and ambulance transport through charitable donations.

The premier further outlined government initiatives aimed at poverty reduction and public well-being, citing programs like the Benazir Income Support Program, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Zakat, Employees Old Age Benefit Institution, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, and the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority.

Sharif appealed to Pakistanis at home and overseas to contribute to relief and recovery operations in regions impacted by floods.
