Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to Indonesia following catastrophic floods and landslides that have caused tragic loss of life and widespread devastation, particularly in Sumatra.
The pledge was made during a telephonic conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday, during which the Prime Minister extended heartfelt condolences and profound sympathy over the natural disaster.
While expressing full solidarity, Sharif assured the Indonesian head of state that Pakistan is prepared to dispatch relief supplies and share its own expertise in managing large-scale flood emergencies, including rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The Pakistani leader highlighted the shared vulnerability of both nations to the impacts of climate-induced catastrophes, stressing the importance of enhanced collaboration in disaster preparedness, response, and building climate resilience.
President Subianto thanked the Prime Minister for the expression of sympathy and support, noting that Indonesian authorities had responded swiftly and effectively to deal with the crisis.
The call also touched upon President Subianto”s scheduled official visit to Pakistan next week, which the Prime Minister said he was looking forward to.
Sharif remarked that the upcoming visit would offer a valuable opportunity for the leaders to further strengthen bilateral diplomatic ties and cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.
