The 6th round of Pakistan-Italy Bilateral Political Consultations was held in Rome, with Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch leading the Pakistan delegation and Secretary General Ricardo Guariglia heading the Italian side. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation within the European Union framework.
According to the Foreign Office report today, the discussions covered trade, economic development, agriculture, defence, higher education, and people-to-people contacts. The Foreign Secretary emphasized the potential to further expand collaboration in these areas, highlighting the growing trade relations between the two nations.
Both sides also reviewed the Bilateral Consular Consultations held on January 30 in Islamabad, expressing satisfaction with the progress made. They acknowledged shared perspectives on various international and regional issues and underlined their close coordination at the United Nations.
During the meeting, the Foreign Secretary delivered a formal invitation from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to his Italian counterpart for the second Ministerial Review of the Pakistan-Italy Strategic Engagement Plan, scheduled to take place in Islamabad this year.
It was mutually agreed that the 7th session of the Dialogue will be held next year in Pakistan.
