Karachi: Mian Zahid Hussain, President of the Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum and other key business alliances, has condemned a recent attack on Pakistan by the Afghan Taliban. According to Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, Hussain described the attack as indicative of a strategic nexus between India, Israel, and the Afghan regime. He emphasized that the Pakistani Armed Forces' response, through Operation 'Ghazab Lil Haq', would severely impact the Afghan regime.
Hussain expressed his support for the operation, which targets terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan, as a crucial step for maintaining national security and economic stability. The operation aims to restore peace and secure the country's economic future amidst rising cross-border terrorism, which has seen a significant increase over the past year.
Data from the Pak Institute for Peace Studies reveals a 34 percent increase in terrorist attacks in the past year, with 699 attacks in 2025 resulting in over 1,000 deaths and more than 1,300 injuries. Security forces have been significantly affected, with over 42 percent of fatalities. Reports also show a rise in organized infiltration, with a large number of foreign militants entering Pakistan.
Hussain stressed the importance of security for economic growth, stating that the business community supports the military's efforts to combat these threats. The operation has already achieved significant results, neutralizing 133 militants and dismantling several camps and ammunition depots in key Afghan regions.
As Chairman of the National Business Group Pakistan and FPCCI's Policy Advisory Board, Hussain linked internal security to economic prosperity, noting that instability hinders investment and disrupts supply chains. The operation is seen as essential for protecting national sovereignty and fostering a stable economic environment.
Hussain concluded by honoring the sacrifices of the armed forces and affirming the private sector's commitment to Pakistan's resilience and progress.
