Pakistan Peoples Party’s Central Executive Committee meeting summoned on November 6

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced on Monday that a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee has been summoned for November 6 to deliberate on the 27th Constitutional Amendment upon the President of Pakistan’s return from Doha. It should be noted that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has sought support from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for a significant constitutional amendment package.

According to a statement from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, a delegation of the PML-N, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, met with him and President Asif Ali Zardari to formally request the PPP’s support for the passage of the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment.

The PPP Chairman, providing details, said that this comprehensive reform package also includes major judicial and administrative changes, such as the establishment of a constitutional court, the restoration of executive magistrates, and new powers for the transfer of judges.

Mr. Zardari further stated that the proposed legislation includes an amendment to Article 243 and seeks to provide a mechanism to end the persistent deadlock over the appointment of the Election Commission.
