Pakistan Pursues Economic Revival Through Renewed Diplomatic Push with Key Global Partners

Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia has entered a new era, opening pathways for multi-billion dollar investments in energy, mining, and infrastructure, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif announced on Monday.

Addressing a seminar in the capital, the minister stated that Islamabad is pursuing a strategy of economic diplomacy, guided by the Prime Minister”s vision to transform foreign relations into tangible economic opportunities.

Asif underscored that recent high-level visits have not only revitalized traditional friendships but also restored global confidence in Pakistan”s stability and economic potential. The renewed momentum in the Saudi-Pak Supreme Coordination Council stands as a hallmark of this strengthened partnership, he added.

Expanding on ties with Gulf nations, the minister highlighted that the United Arab Emirates and Qatar have expressed strong interest in expanding their economic footprint in Pakistan, with a focus on renewable energy, ports, information technology, and agriculture.

Regarding the nation”s all-weather strategic partnership with China, Asif said the relationship remains an anchor of regional peace and prosperity. He confirmed that both sides have resolved to expand the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor into new domains, including agriculture, information technology, and renewable energy.

With regard to the United States, the defence minister stated that Pakistan continues to build a broad-based and balanced partnership. Recent diplomatic engagements have emphasized cooperation in trade, technology, climate resilience, and counter-terrorism.

The minister also detailed Pakistan”s outreach to Central Asian Republics, positioning the country as a gateway for trade and energy transit. He cited projects like CASA1000, TAPI, and the proposed Trans-Afghan Railway as proof of a commitment to regional connectivity and shared prosperity.

Furthermore, Asif noted that Pakistan has actively sought to revitalize ties with Iran, Turkiye, and Egypt, with these engagements grounded in mutual respect and collective aspirations.

He concluded that this renewed diplomatic activism has helped Pakistan re-establish itself as a respected voice in international forums such as the United Nations, SEO, OIC, and the World Economic Forum, reflecting a confident, future-focused nation that builds bridges and values partnerships.
