Pakistan, Saudi Arabia vow to further enhance multilateral cooperation

ISLAMABAD:Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sajid Hussain Turi held a virtual meeting with his Saudi counterparts on Monday.

 

They discussed bilateral relations, matters of mutual interest and export of Pakistani manpower to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and vowed to further enhance multilateral cooperation between the both countries.

 

According to a press release, the meeting held between Sajid Hussain Turi and Saudi Minister for Human Resources and Social Development Engineer Ahmed Alrajhi and Dr Abdullah Abuthnain Vice Minister of Labour discussed employment opportunities for Pakistani skilled manpower in fields of construction, manufacturing, information technology, transportation, skilled labours and others.

 

Turi assured to fulfill the requirements of KSA’s Government as per vision of higher authorities of both the countries which is in line with Vision 2030 of KSA Government. “Pakistan has workforce available under Skilled and Highly Skilled categories i.e. IT, Engineering, Construction, Agriculture, Healthcare, Banking and Hospitality Management etc and requirement of KSA Government for skilled workforce can easily be met in foreseeable future as per their needs”, the Minister said.

 

Turi appreciated the launch of Skill Verification Programme (SVP) by KSA Government and said that, “it would be helpful in assessing skills set of Pakistani Workforce which is indeed the need of hour”. The both sides agreed to have meetings in this regard at the Ministerial level and at the level of Focal Persons nominated by both sides in coming days on weekly and forthrightly basis, accordingly.

 

Meanwhile, the Minister chaired a meeting of Manpower Export Coordination Committee (MECC) here on Monday. The agenda regarding export of manpower to EU countries were discussed especially in IT, Healthcare fields and their Skilled workforce requirements. The Minister stressed to provide the required information in consultation with relevant stakeholders and ensure to meet manpower requirements of EU countries at earliest.
