President Asif Ali Zardari today called for a significant increase in Egyptian investment in Pakistan, specifically targeting expanding opportunities in energy, logistics, construction, agriculture, mining, and IT, during a high-level meeting with Egypt”s top diplomat.
The discussion took place as Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, Egypt”s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, met with the President at Aiwan e Sadr. President Zardari emphasized that Pakistan highly values its longstanding relationship with Egypt, which he described as being rooted in shared faith and mutual respect.
Marking 77 years of diplomatic relations, the President expressed a desire to reinvigorate cooperation between the two nations and steer the bilateral partnership in a more structured and forward-looking direction, particularly in trade and people-to-people exchanges.
During the engagement, Dr. Abdelatty delivered a special message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and affirmed Cairo”s keen interest in broadening its partnership with Islamabad across various fields. President Zardari also conveyed his warm greetings to his Egyptian counterpart.
The dialogue also encompassed key regional and international matters, with both sides reaffirming their mutual resolve to work together for peace, stability, and prosperity. An earlier one-on-one meeting between the two leaders was also held to exchange views on issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by a high-level Pakistani delegation including Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister; Senator Sherry Rehman; and Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, alongside the Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, was also present during the discussions.
