Pakistan’s imports decrease, says Miftah

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail on Sunday said incumbent government’s efforts to reduce imports have finally borne fruit.

In his tweet, Miftah Ismail said imports in July were recorded at $5billion as compared to $7.7b in June. He said the coalition government is determined to minimize the large current account deficit left by PTI.

“Our efforts to reduce imports have finally borne fruit. Imports in July, as per FBR data, were only $5.0b compared to $7.7b in June. Given that we have pulled Pakistan back from the brink of default, our govt is determined to minimize the large current account deficit left by PTI,” he said in the tweet.
