Parliamentarians Express Concern Over NEOC’s Monsoon Preparedness

A high-profile visit by parliamentarians to the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) in Islamabad has sparked significant discussion regarding the readiness and efficiency of current monsoon response strategies.

Led by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the delegation was briefed by Chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, who outlined ongoing measures to tackle the monsoon and flood challenges. The session included discussions on the steps being taken to address incidents related to floods, landslides, and heavy rains.

During the briefing, it was revealed that a substantial evacuation effort has been undertaken, with 600,000 individuals already moved from vulnerable areas to more secure locations. This proactive approach has been a focal point of NDMA”s strategy to mitigate the risks posed by extreme weather conditions.
