PDMA Balochistan ready to tackle monsoon rains: spokesperson

QUETTA: Farah Azeem Shah, Spokesperson for provincial government, has said that in compliance with the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has completed all its preparations in view of monsoon rains, adding that rescue teams of PDMA were being imparted training in 1122 Training Centre, Punjab for rescuing people during natural calamities.

In a statement issued here on Friday, she said in order to protect people from any mishap during monsoon rains, protective measures had already been finalized. Urging the people not to travel unnecessarily, she said that a central control room had been set up in PDMA to provide relief to the people, adding that instructions to all concerned departments had been issued to prepare “protective plan” for taking effective steps to save the lives and properties of the people during monsoon rains.

Urging the people to contact control room of PDMA, which was functional 7/24, in case of emergency, she said red alert issued by Pakistan Meteorological Department and PDMA must not be ignored and citizen ought to avoid visiting tourist resorts and unnecessary travelling.
