Petrol bombs hurled on houses in Srinagar scare residents

Srinagar, August 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):Panic gripped Barzulla locality of Srinagar after people in plainclothes were seen throwing petrol bombs towards some houses with an aim to set them ablaze.

The incident took place during the midnight, the other day. “I woke up to a loud sound. I ran towards the entrance of my house and saw someone hurling petrol bombs towards houses,” said a local resident, Merajud Din Sheikh. He yelled at the assailants and woke up his neighbours. “Had I not created the noise, the assailants would have set at least 16 houses on fire,” he said.

Another resident said, “Had the locals not stepped in, we would have lost property worth millions of rupees because our locality is densely populated.” According to residents, such elements have been resulting in mysterious fire incidents.

It is worth mentioning here that several houses and shops were destroyed in mysterious incidents of fire in the past few months. Earlier, Indian troops were found involved in throwing stone on houses of Kashmiri people to scare them ahead of India’s national days like Independence day in the territory.
