The Ghotki district administration has unveiled a comprehensive plan to establish permanent peace and order by introducing educational facilities in its katcha areas in a phased manner and facilitating the issuance of national identity documents for the residents.
The decision was announced today following a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmed Kanrani, which focused on promoting education and providing National Identity Cards (NIC) to the population of the district’s katcha areas.
Key officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Tanveer Ahmed, the Assistant Commissioners of Ghotki and Ubauro, and representatives from the Education, Livestock, Health, PPHI, NADRA, Sports, and Municipal departments, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Kanrani stated that the promotion of education is essential to achieve sustainable stability in the katcha areas. He confirmed that the administration has already established a school in Dost Muhammad Shar village as an initial step.
There is a plan to establish another educational institution in Allah Bux Ghanjo to extend learning opportunities to more children. The Deputy Commissioner mentioned that more schools will be established in phases, in partnership with industrial and social welfare organizations.
Mr. Kanrani instructed the District Education Officers (DEOs) to enroll the students of the newly established schools in nearby government institutions and provide them with books and other necessary facilities.
In a parallel effort to regularize the legal status of residents, the Deputy Director of Local Government was tasked with deploying Union Council secretaries to the katcha villages to issue birth certificates. This initiative aims to simplify the process of obtaining National Identity Cards.
To support this registration drive, the District Manager of the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) was directed to conduct an awareness campaign among the katcha residents about the importance of obtaining their identity cards.
