Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in a message today on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, has reiterated the government’s commitment to make TB eradication a top public health priority, and outlined a strategy to integrate treatment services at the grassroots level.
The Prime Minister said that TB services are being integrated into primary health centers to ensure uninterrupted care delivery across the country.
Observed on Tuesday, the day aims to increase public awareness regarding the severe health, social, and economic impacts of the disease and to accelerate efforts to end the global epidemic.
In his statement, the premier reaffirmed Pakistan”s pledge, alongside the international community, to completely stamp out the treatable and preventable illness.
He issued a broad appeal to all stakeholders-including federal and provincial administrations, development partners, academic institutions, the private sector, media organisations, and community leaders-to amplify their collective efforts in the fight against TB.
The Prime Minister emphasised that public participation is essential for the complete elimination of the disease, with the ultimate goal of ensuring no individual suffering from tuberculosis is left without treatment.
