Two dacoits wanted in serious crimes have been killed in an encounter near Khairpur.
The encounter began this morning when the Station House Officer (SHO) of Babarloi police station was on patrol on Pir Goth Link Road. An encounter took place with dacoits, during which Head Muharrir Javed Ahmed Jatoi was injured by a gunshot.
After the initial encounter, authorities arrested two individuals involved in the firing from the scene, identified as Noor Ahmed Brohi and Irshad Ali Mirani.
According to the official police statement, the SHO was later taking the arrested individuals with a police contingent to identify their accomplices. Near Wasri Wahan Link, the suspects’ accomplices allegedly ambushed the police convoy, opened fire, and freed both prisoners before escaping.
In response, a message to initiate a blockade throughout the district was broadcast via wireless control.
Later during the blockade, a second encounter occurred between law enforcement agencies and the escaped suspects and their accomplices within the limits of the Economic Zone. In this exchange of fire, Noor Ahmed son of Gul Hassan Brohi and Irshad Ali son of Shahnawaz Mirani were killed.
Police recovered two pistols from the deceased. The bodies of both individuals were later moved to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal procedures. The injured police official was also moved to the hospital for treatment.
A search operation is underway in the area for the arrest of the other four fugitive accomplices.
A police spokesperson stated that the deceased were wanted in several serious crime cases and their complete criminal record is being compiled from other districts.
