PPF organizes training session on use of modern technology during pandemic and disasters

KARACHI:Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) organized a two-day training session titled “Use of Modern Technology during Pandemic and Disasters” in collaboration with Local Action for Democratic and Inclusive Response to 19 at a local hotel in Karachi.

The training program was attended by male and female journalists from print, electronic and digital media.

Vania Ghafoor and Masood Warsi were the program coordinators. On the first day of the training program, Maqsooda Solangi, a trainer from the Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA), spoke on the role of free media in democracy and the democratic process, media and journalists’ laws and regulations. She also provided information about active organizations working for protection of journalists.

Participants also asked questions and answers from the trainer regarding the implementation of media laws and regulations. On the second day of the training program, senior journalist Waqar Gilani from TDEA gave awareness on the use of digital tools in journalism and digital journalism platforms including YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and others, besides informing news verification method.

He also provided information on how to prevent false news, verify fake accounts and increase income digitally.

Senior trainer Yasir Abbasi provided information on how to create accounts in digital media, security, web channels and issues. He also gave awareness about problems in this regard.
