Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has successfully augmented its hydrocarbon production, adding an estimated 5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas, 35 barrels of condensate, and one metric ton of LPG from its Gambat South Block after a cost-effective upgrade to its processing facility.
According to PPL information today, the state-owned enterprise announced on Tuesday that it has enhanced the processing capacity of its Gas Processing Facility (GPF-II) in the Sanghar District of Sindh from 55 to 60 MMscfd of raw gas.
This capacity expansion was achieved without any hardware modifications. Instead, the firm optimized its Amine sweetening process by introducing a proprietary additive to the existing MDEA solvent system, a chemical procedure used to purify the raw gas.
The achievement represents the latest in a series of production enhancement efforts at the plant. Originally commissioned in 2016 with a design capacity of 50 MMscfd, the GPF-II was first optimized during 2021-22 to handle 55 MMscfd through operational improvements.
PPL serves as the operator of the Gambat South Block, holding a majority 65 percent working interest. The joint venture includes Government Holdings (Private) Limited with a 25 percent stake and Asia Resources Oil Limited with the remaining 10 percent interest.
The company stated that the milestone was realized with bare minimum cost as part of its continuous initiatives to maximize domestic hydrocarbon output from existing fields in an efficient manner.
