Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the International Monetary Fund’s release of the last financial tranche worth $1.1 billion to Pakistan. This disbursement, as per the Prime Minister, will contribute significantly to the country’s economic stability. According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted that the agreement with the IMF has been crucial in preventing a default over the sixteen months of his tenure in the previous government. He reflected on the tough decisions made for the economic security of Pakistan, which he believes are now bearing fruit in terms of economic stability. Sharif emphasized that while securing loans was not in itself a success, the real achievement would be in repaying these debts. He expressed hope for Pakistan to break free from the cycle of debt and enter a prosperous era through continued right-direction efforts. The Prime Minister thanked the IMF for its support during Pakistan’s challenging times.
